The Simplest Way To Get Free Harddisk Space (By Finding Duplicate Files).

Download Link:- Duplicate Cleaner

This morning I had 200mb of space left on my harddisk, 10 minutes later, I have 7GB.
How did I do it? Introducing Duplicate Cleaner. (It's free!)

You'll be surprised how many duplicate files you can find on your computer.

1) Launch Duplicate Cleaner.

The software should be self explanatory, however if you're lost..

A: Select the harddisk drive you wish to scan for duplicates, in this example I chose D: drive. You may select any folder within drive too.

B: Click this button to add it to the list as shown.

C: Click select button to choose what kind of files you want to scan, be it image file or video file or something else. I chose 'Office Documents' in this example. You may choose 'Everything' :)

D: Minimum File Size of files you wanted to scan, if your goal is to get FREE harddisk space, choose a higher file size (maybe more than 10mb) to get the fastest result, because you get the largest duplicate files instantly.

E: Click GO!

2) The next screen shows all the duplicate files, double click any file here to open it if you want to check. Tick the files you wish to delete on the check boxes on the left shown. After that you may click 'Remove Selected'. Make sure you don't delete any system files!

(3) In the next screen, make sure 'delete to recycle bin' is checked so that you may revert it if you deleted the wrong files. Click 'Delete Files' and you're done.

My list was too long and I got lazy, so I scanned only for videos and songs. After cleaning up, I have 7GB of free harddisk space instantly.. I haven't even touched images yet (the list was too long).

Tell me how many space you recovered by adding comments to this post.

End Note:

To get more free harddisk space you should check out:

The Simplest PC Maintenance Software (Bundled With Lots Of Utilities) - This tool includes a basic duplicate files finder, only downside of it is it can't find duplicate files with different file names. It also includes a tool that offers the same functions of TreeSize.

The Simplest Way To Find and Recover Precious HardDisk Space.

Download Link: TreeSize Free

Every hard disk is too small if you just wait long enough. Ever wonder where all your GB or TB of space had gone to?

TreeSize Free will help you find out which folder eats up most of your space. If you're in a hurry to get lots of free space, tackle those first!

WARNING: You can delete files directly from the TreeSize interface. If you found a file taking up some space in your C:
drive, but you have no idea what it is for, please don't delete it! It might be a system file and your computer may stop
working after that. In short, make sure you know what you are deleting.

The user interface is very straight forward, normally you'll have no problem exploring it on your own. Please continue reading only
if you're not sure how to use it.

1) When you start the program, it will automatically scan your C: drive. (might take a while if you have large drives)

2) Picture above shows my C: drive, from here I know that Windows take up most of the space, followed by Program Files. Click on the triangle arrow on the left of each folder to expand it. Here I choose not to touch any files in Windows, Program Files, or Files. I expanded the Users folder...

3) After going deeper in the Users folder, I found that Google Chrome tooks out 750mb of my space, follow by other temporary internet files from internet explorer and mozilla. So I went to clear all the cache files for all my browsers and I got more than 1GB of free space instantly.

4) That's all. You may click on 'Scan' to scan other drives (if you have D: drive) as well as thumb drives. You may also click 'View' to change the display settings e.g. show everything in percentage rather than actual size, or show in GB unit instead of MB.

Leave a comment telling how much harddisk space you've recovered using this method!

End Note:

10 Steps You Should Do When Your Computer Hangs Up.

You are in the middle of doing your work, suddenly you realized your computer hanged up. But the problem is, you have not saved your work! Don't panic! There is a solution for that! And you can surely save your file!

10 Steps You Should Do.

 1. Click on "ctrl-alt-delete" keys.
The windows task manager will then open, click on all programs that you don't need and end the task. You will see that all programs on your taskbar will close one by one. If this will resolve the issue! - then save! (tip# 1: if you're working on an MS Office application, it will automatically save your file in case the programs suddenly shut down - tip# 2: always save your file at least every 2 minutes by just simply clicking on the "diskette icon"- its just one click!)

2. If it did not resolve the issue,
Are there some users logged on that computer? If so, go to switch user (for XP) and log off that user, go back to your log on screen and log on again.

The reason the computer hang up is because if there are many open programs and applications, these retains in the memory, if it is too much for the memory to handle, it freezes! Another reason too the computer hang up is because if you are connected to the internet via dial up, and you are running too many applications and opening many websites. So I suggest, if you are multimedia user or a heavy internet user, then you are better off with a higher memory, at least 512Mb of memory.

There are simple ways to avoid computer to freeze or hang up:

WIFI Security Tips To Prevent Hack And UnAuthorised USE.

Many People USING WIFI Network for their home purpose, Business, office school ,mall ,cafe and
many other places.

And many people are looking for free WIFI hotspot to use free internet.
This people called Internet Theft...hehehe.
To prevent these Free Internet use and even Hack of your WIFI system, you should follow this step , for better and safe network connection.

(1) Install a Firewall A firewall helps protect your PC by preventing unauthorized users from gaining access to your computer through the Internet or a network. It acts as a barrier that checks any information coming from the Internet or a network, and then either blocks the information or allows it to pass through to your computer.

(2) Change the Administrative Password on your Wireless Routers Each manufacturer ships their wireless routers with a default password for easy initial access. These passwords are easy to find on vendor support sites, and should therefore be changed immediately.

(3) Change the Default SSID Name and Turn Off SSID Broadcasting This will require your wireless client computers to manually enter the name of your SSID (Service Set Identifier) before they can connect to your network, greatly minimizing the damage from the casual user whose laptop is configured to connect to any available SSID broadcast it finds. You should also change the SSID name from the factory default, since these are just as well-known as the default passwords.

NOTE: Even though the SSID is disabled the SSID is included in the data packets that are transmitted and is easy to discover.

(4) Disable DHCP For a SOHO network with only a few computers, consider disabling DHCP (Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol) on your router and assigning IP addresses to your client computers manually. On newer wireless routers, you can even restrict access to the router to specific MAC addresses.

(5) Replace WEP with WPA WEP (Wired Equivalent Privacy) is a security protocol that was designed to provide a wireless computer network with a level of security and privacy comparable to what is usually expected of a wired computer network. WEP seeks to establish security by encrypting data transmitted over the wireless computer network. Data encryption protects the vulnerable wireless link between clients and access points. Once this measure has been taken, other typical wire computer network security mechanisms such as password protection, end-to-end encryption, virtual private networks (VPN’s), and authentication can be put in place to ensure privacy.Unfortunately, WEP is a very weak form of security that uses common 60 or 108 bit key shared among all of the devices on the network to encrypt the wireless data. Hackers can access tools freely available on the Internet that can crack a WEP key in as little as 15 minutes.

This Tricks and Tips can help you To secure Your WIFI network better way. Use this and Be safe.

Today I will discuss a trick that will allow you to create files and folders without any name.

To perform the trick just follow the following steps:

Step 1: First of all select any file or folder whom you want to assign no name.

Step 2:  Now right click on the file or folder and choose rename option.

Step 3: Now the main part, press and hold the alt key and while holding the Alt key type numbers 0160 from the numpad. Here it is important to note that number 0160 should be typed from numpad and not from number keys present above character keys.

Step 4: Press Enter and the nameless file or folder will be created. The file or folder that seems nameless is actually named with a single space.

Now if you want to creat multiple nameless files and folders in the same directory that may cause a problem. But you can create another nameless file or folder in the same directory. You will have to rename the file with 2 spaces.

Just follow the steps given below to successfully create another nameless file or folder.

How To Lock Folder Using Notepad?

Everyone of us have some private files on systems which we do not want others to access them. Some hide those files on computer and some others use software to password protect them. But using a software leads to many problems like, getting system hang, also when we format our system the software will be removed automatically which causes your protected files to be public. So , it is good to password protect a file on computer using a simple notepad trick by using .BAT extension.

Open Notepad and paste the following program in the notepad.

Quote:
Quote: cls
@ECHO OFF
title Folder Private
if EXIST "Control Panel.{21EC2020-3AEA-1069-A2DD-08002B30309D}" goto UNLOCK
if NOT EXIST Private goto MDLOCKER
:CONFIRM
echo Are you sure you want to lock the folder(Y/N)
set/p "cho=>"
if %cho%==Y goto LOCK
if %cho%==y goto LOCK
if %cho%==n goto END
if %cho%==N goto END
echo Invalid choice.
goto CONFIRM
:LOCK
ren Private "Control Panel.{21EC2020-3AEA-1069-A2DD-08002B30309D}"
attrib +h +s "Control Panel.{21EC2020-3AEA-1069-A2DD-08002B30309D}"
echo Folder locked
goto End
:UNLOCK
echo Enter password to unlock folder
set/p "pass=>"
if NOT %pass%== onlytrick goto FAIL
attrib -h -s "Control Panel.{21EC2020-3AEA-1069-A2DD-08002B30309D}"
ren "Control Panel.{21EC2020-3AEA-1069-A2DD-08002B30309D}" Private
echo Folder Unlocked successfully
goto End
:FAIL
echo Invalid password
goto end
:MDLOCKER
md Private
echo Private created successfully
goto End
:End

>> In the above program I am using onlytrick as the password of the file.

>> Replace it with anything you like to make it as folder password.

>> Save the file anywhere in the system with a .bat suffix like something.bat

>> Here I am saving it as mylocker .bat on my system.

>>Double click on the something.bat file which you create, a new folder by name Locker will be created on the same location of bat file you saved.

>> Copy your files to this folder and open bat file again and type y and then enter to lock your folder.

How To Disable CD/DVD or USB drive Autorun?

Well, this is one of my most suggested and favorite computer trick. What this small trick does is, it simply makes you to disable Autorun of any removable drives such as cd, dvd, Pen drives etc.

You might have noticed often that, when ever you plugin your
USB into the Usb port or when you insert a cd or dvd into the cd/Dvd rom drive, Auto play option automatically gets executed. It is very dangerous to allow any drive autoplay on its own, specially Usb drives. Because, along with Autorun files, USB drives containing virus also gets executed resulting your computer affected by virus or Trojan horses.

So this trick goes this way.
Disable CD Autorun.

(1) Click Start, Run and enter GPEDIT.MSC

(2) Go to Computer Configuration, then-> Administrative Templates, ---> System.

(3) Locate the entry for Turn autoplay off. Double click on it.

(4) Click on Enable.

(5) Select All Drives to disable all drives including Usb drives or only Cd Rom drive.

(6) Now click on apply.

The Simplest Way To Recover Permanently Deleted Files (Removed From Recycle Bin).

Download Recuva.
*Updated 7/14/10 to better software*

You might be able to recover files you permanently deleted if you acted fast enough.

Before you recover your file, stop any file operations such as cut/copy/paste files because it might overwrite the file location permanently and make your file unrecoverable.

When you delete a file on FAT32 or NTFS file system, its content is not erased from disk but only reference to file data in File Allocation Table or Master File Table is marked as deleted. It means that you might be able to recover deleted files, or make it visible for file system again.

1) Run Recuva and follow the Wizard if you want, it will ask you the file type and file location (where you deleted it).

2) If you don't like to use the wizard like me, feel free to hit cancel and follow the steps below.

3) Select your harddisk drive letter, then key in your file name on the right if you know it. In this case I'm trying to recover a picture that I deleted call 'doom.jpg' so I enter it here. Hit 'Scan'.

4) Matching results are shown in the list, green light signifies that the specific file could be recovered. You may also preview the image file on the right hand side as shown.

5) Check the files you wish to recover, right-click and choose 'Recover'!
Good luck recovering your files.

End Note: One important thing that I noticed is that there's a difference between Shift + deleting (thus permanently delete without going through recycle bin) and normal delete to recycle bin -> empty recycle bin.

I'll explain it here.

If I shift + delete 'doom.jpg' in my D: drive, I will be able to find it using the steps above, with 'doom.jpg' as the picture name.
However
If I delete it normally, and then emptied my recycle bin, I won't be able to find it the same way. In that case I'll need to run the wizard and select 'In the recycle bin' when asked as shown below:

Because the file went through the recycle bin, it will not be named 'doom.jpg' anymore but rather '$RXR62UY.jpg' instead. Thanks to the thumbnail feature I manage to find my file by recognizing the picture instead of the file name as shown..

The uninstaller has some extra features compare to the basic Windows' Add/Remove Programs such as the ability to delete or rename entries. The startup manager allows you to disable or delete any startup programs with easy.

The Simplest Way To Check Your PC Specs & CPU Temperatures.
